Bluebird Meets with Dr. Lunine, NASA JPL's Chief Scientist

We recently got the incredible opportunity to meet with and present our work to Dr. Jonathan Lunine, the Chief Scientist of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

We showed our static fire and discussed some insight we’ve gained in Cardinal’s engineering process. We walked through the various major milestones such as the design of the injector, feed systems, pressurization, ablator and the chamber itself, and some challenges that we have encountered in the process. We also talked briefly about some of the combustion instability that we observed during the test fire, the conclusions we reached after discussing with the USC rocket team, and the steps that Bluebird is currently taking to remedy it.

Dr. Lunine also gave us some advice on pursuing a future in aerospace.

We are very grateful and so amazed that someone like Dr. Lunine would show interest in our project.

And as always, we are grateful for all the support from the Webb Schools faculty, administration, and community!
